Meijer
Meijer is a family-owned Midwestern retailer that pioneered the modern supercentre format by bringing groceries and general merchandise together under one roof.
Founded in 1934 by Dutch immigrant Hendrik Meijer in Greenville, Michigan, the company started life as a small grocery store during the Great Depression, and has since grown into a regional institution serving communities across the Midwest.
Today, Meijer operates over 270 stores across six states: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
Stores combine full-service grocery departments (fresh produce, bakery, deli, meat, seafood and floral) with general merchandise such as homeware, electronics, apparel, toys, seasonal items and gardening supplies, as well as services such as a pharmacy and fuel stations. Some locations also offer an expanded range of fresh and prepared food.
