JYSK CZ
JYSK is an international home furnishings retail chain founded in Denmark. It specialises in beds, mattresses, furniture and home accessories and is headquartered in Denmark.
JYSK operates more than 3,500 stores and e-shops across 50 countries and employs 31,000 people worldwide. In Germany and Austria, the chain operates under the name Dänisches Bettenlager rather than JYSK.
The first JYSK store in the Czech Republic opened in 2003.
JYSK reached its 100^(th) Czech store after 18 years of operation, which the company describes as proof that, although it is a global player, it operates locally.
JYSK stores are spread across the Czech Republic, including in Prague, Brno, Plzeň, Beroun, Břeclav, Vyškov, Valašské Meziříčí, Ostrava and Kutná Hora (the site of the milestone opening of the 100^(th) store), and are typically located in retail parks and shopping centres rather than in out-of-town superstore formats.
Product range: beds, mattresses (including the GOLD mattress line, which carries a 25-year warranty), bedding, furniture, chairs, tables, chests of drawers, towels, rugs, curtains and home décor.
Positioning vs. competitors: Unlike IKEA, which entered the Czech market later and built large, warehouse-style stores on the outskirts of towns and cities, JYSK has pursued a strategy of smaller stores in shopping zones combined with frequent, aggressive leaflet and discount campaigns. This model has proven effective with Czech customers for over 40 years globally.
